Certificates of commendation along with overwhelming gratitude were presented by township council to several volunteers from the Rocky Run Fire Company (Lenni Heights and Lima Fire Companies) members for helping to save the life of a resident who was experiencing cardiac arrest on Nov. 16, 2012. About 8:19 p.m. on Nov. 16, the fire company and EMS were dispatched to a home in the Riddlewood section of the township for a man in cardiac arrest. Arriving first, Chief Collins saw the victim was not breathing and had no pulse. Immediately behind him was the engine crew who rapidly began CPR and applied the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Minutes later the medics arrived and started their work while CPR continued until the patient began breathing on his own. The patient, now fully recovered, was on hand while township council Vice Chairman Mark Kirchgasser honored the firefighters at the most recent council meeting. Chief Ken Collins (Lenni), Capt. Ian Tully as well as firefighters Vince Soster, Jake Bonney and Eric Warner. Chief Bill Caims (Lima), Assistant Chief George Pettit, Capt. Mike Groover as well as firefighters Brian Perakis and Sean Miller.
